Our Story

In the wake of the devastating 2010 earthquake, a remarkable dream was born. It was a dream not just to help the community recover but to invest in the boundless opportunities that lay ahead for Haiti. It was a dream rooted in the belief that education and technology could be the catalysts of transformation for the nation. Thus, our journey began.

A Vision Takes Shape (2010-2019)

In 2010, our journey commenced with community surveys and disaster preparedness training. We listened, learned, and let the community lead. We supported students who couldn’t afford an education and offered them sponsorship. As we started supporting these young minds, the vision of creating a state-of-the-art science and technology center took shape. We named this vision “educáre,” a word meaning “to educate” in Latin.

Over the years, we worked on numerous small projects that would eventually lead us to the formal incorporation of Educáre Haiti in 2020. It was a milestone in our pursuit to provide a holistic education that not only empowers but also nurtures leadership.

Pioneering Success (2020-2021)

In 2020, we launched a tutoring program, helping kids prepare for and excel in their national exams. The success was immediate, and our students began achieving top scores, setting new standards for educational excellence. Our dream evolved beyond education alone; it was about investing in the future leaders of Haiti.

A cornerstone of our program became leadership development. We watched with pride as students who had once struggled in their classes rose to the top, assumed leadership roles, and dared to challenge themselves in national competitions.

Rising to the Challenge (2021)

In 2021, as Haiti faced another devastating earthquake, our organization rallied in support of the Southern part of the country. Our Haitian-led initiatives sought to address the most pressing needs and find practical solutions amidst the instability, safety concerns, and restricted access to resources. We assembled teams of Haitian doctors and medical professionals and held clinics in remote areas from August to October 2021. We provided lifesaving care to people trapped by the earthquake, arranged airlift transport for nine individuals in need of critical care to Port-au-Prince, and diligently tracked and reported data to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and other organizing entities in the wake of this disaster.

Since then, our commitment to Haiti’s well-being has continued. We provide medical care through mobile clinics, focus on cholera prevention, and distribute vital medical and sanitation supplies to those in need.

Empowering Through Education and Beyond (2023 and Beyond)

The past two years saw the launch of our tech summer camps, where students received training in coding, programming, engineering, soccer, and gardening. These camps exemplify our commitment to holistic education and personal growth, addressing the pressing challenges of an unstable nation. Our spectrum of programs has since expanded to include debate, literacy, and English, touching on various facets of development.

Our dream for 2025 is to see the realization of our science and technology center in Jacmel, Haiti—a beacon of knowledge and innovation. Each small step in our journey has led us to incredible opportunities, but the most profound joy has been witnessing our students thrive in the face of adversity.

As we continue to nurture dreams and ignite futures, our story is a testament to the power of education, technology, and the unwavering spirit of resilience in a country plagued with challenges. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
